Explore Pinery App Redesign
This case study highlights my approach to problem-solving, from research and ideation to wireframing and high-fidelity interface design.

The Challenge
The Explore Pinery app presents several usability and engagement challenges that limit its effectiveness as a tool for park visitors. The interface feels outdated and cluttered, with unintuitive navigation that makes key features difficult to find. Core functionalities, such as trail information, lack visual clarity, accessibility, and interactivity. The challenge was to redesign the app to improve usability, visual appeal, and engagement while positioning it as a reliable and intuitive companion for visitors to Pinery Provincial Park.

Goals
Business Goals:
The primary goal of the Explore Pinery app redesign is to increase user engagement and satisfaction by encouraging more visitors to use the app as a tool to enhance their park experience. A more intuitive and user-friendly platform aims to increase app downloads and facilitate permit acquisition (e.g., day-use, vehicle) and secondary revenue streams (rentals) while fostering deeper connections with the park’s conservation and recreation mission.
User Goals:
Visitors want an easier, more intuitive way to explore Pinery Provincial Park and its activities, with tools that help showcase options and make it easy to book and purchase permits in just a few clicks. They want quick access to information like trail maps, activity lists, wildlife guides, and interactive features like wildlife reports. Users also want offline access to the park map and a visually appealing interface.
Branding
The redesign of the Pinery app icon and loading page introduces a more modern and friendly approach, making the user experience welcoming from the very first interaction. Beyond updating the visuals, the new design subtly incorporates natural elements of the park, such as the blue lake and sand beach, immediately connecting users to Pinery Provincial Park and reinforcing the app’s visual identity in an engaging and memorable way.

High-Fidelity Screens & Prototype
This visual showcases the main screens developed for the Explore Pinery app, including the loading screen, sign-in, sing-up, home screen , trail screen and trail details screen. The designs focus on clear information hierarchy, intuitive navigation, and consistent visual language. Each screen was created to support key user goals such as quick access to information like trail maps and activity lists.
